Multidisciplinary Collaborative Bundled Care Improves Outcomes in ICU Patients with Endotracheal Intubation
journals.lww.comMultidisciplinary analgesic and sedative bundled care has demonstrated the potential to decrease restraint use in patients undergoing endotracheal intubation and mechanical ventilation, reduce the need for analgesic and sedative medications, enhance cough strength, shorten the duration of mechanical ventilation, and improve overall patient experience and clinical outcomes.
However, the study presents several limitations: the small sample size, focusing only on mechanically ventilated patients; a lack of objective measures and assessments of neurological recovery; and the brief intervention period, with no evaluation of long-term effects.
Future research should expand the sample size, incorporate more objective indicators and neurological recovery assessments, and include long-term follow-up to assess sustained intervention outcomes better.
Seventy ICU patients were enrolled with endotracheal intubation, admitted between January and August 2024.
