Artificial intelligence (AI) has the potential to close significant gaps in clinical pharmacology in the ICU. Its applications range from personalized dosing and predictive analytics to clinical trial optimization and education.

While challenges remain—particularly in data quality, validation, trust, and regulatory issues—AI can enhance decision-making in the ICU, complementing traditional pharmacological approaches.

To fully realize AI’s potential, a collaborative approach is needed where AI augments, rather than replaces, the role of clinicians and pharmacists.
