AKI and Mortality Predictors of Systemic Autoimmune Diseases and COVID-19

The present study highlights renal parameters and outcomes associated with various systemic autoimmune diseases and COVID-19. Patients who presented with low oxygen saturation (<94%) and who required inotropic support, ventilatory support or ICU admission; patients who developed acute kidney injury (AKI) Stage 3 and required hemodialysis were significantly associated with poor outcomes. The presence of COVID-19 was also associated with poor outcomes in the present study. The need for ventilatory support was an independent risk factor for mortality. Further research is required to assess the outcomes in patients with systemic autoimmune disease, AKI and COVID-19. A total of 129 patients with systemic autoimmune diseases were admitted, out of which 51 patients with AKI were included in the study.
