Sedation is frequently used in patients with acute respiratory failure (ARF) undergoing Noninvasive Respiratory Supports (NRSs). Current analgesic practices are becoming more standardized, with analgosedation strategies increasingly tailored to individual patient characteristics.

To date, no guidelines exist on the implementation of analgosedation strategies for patients undergoing NRS to manage acute respiratory failure.

In the past, the approach to managing analgosedation during NRS was unstructured and heavily reliant on the individual clinician’s expertise.

This survey seeks to explore current clinical practices in analgosedation during NRS, reflecting the SIAARTI good clinical practice statements released in 2024.
