Rapid Clinical Effects of Convalescent Plasma Therapy in Severe COVID-19 ARDS
link.springer.comAdministration of convalescent plasma (CP) in critically ill COVID-19 patients leads to a rapid and highly significant improvement of sequential organ failure assessment (SOFA) score along with improvements in respiratory and hemodynamic conditions.
Beyond that, our analysis suggests a time-dependent transient therapeutic effectivity of CP administration.
To this end, besides antibody titers and CP volume, a repetitive administration of CP might lower the risk of both death and severe respiratory disease progression and, thus, improve the outcome of COVID-19-induced acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) patients.
There was a significant difference in sequential organ failure assessment (SOFA) score development between both groups within days 2 and 7, with highly significant differences on days 3, 4, and 6, respectively.
