This study provides an insight into the relationship between COVID-19-related factors and the development of osteonecrosis of the femoral head (ONFH), emphasizing the critical role of cumulative steroid dose as the primary determinant of ONFH severity in post-COVID-19 patients.

Additionally, our findings suggest that the combined use of corticosteroids may accelerate the onset of ONFH, underscoring the need for cautious management of steroid regimens in COVID-19 patients.

While we found no significant associations between vaccination status, joint involvement, and COVID-19-related factors, these results underscore the complexity of ONFH pathogenesis.

Future research is warranted to unravel the intricate mechanisms linking COVID-19, corticosteroid therapy, and ONFH development, which may ultimately guide more effective prevention and treatment strategies.
