Our study revealed that the lowest albumin level within 1 week after admission was independently associated with mortality in severe acute pancreatitis (SAP).

In addition, infusing albumin may decrease mortality for hypoalbuminemia patients with SAP.

In addition, infusing a sufficient albumin dose within a week after admission may decrease mortality for hypoalbuminemia patients treated with albumin infusions.

Certainly, further prospective studies are required to confirm the clinical application of human serum albumin in SAP.
