This RCT tackles an important topic in critical care medicine, which involves a large number of critically ill patients and continues to harbor high mortality despite improvements in management.

The results of the study could provide an additional weapon in the arsenal of ICU management of acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) and could be built upon to refine and improve the use of nebulized furosemide, with the ultimate aim of faster recovery and lower mortality rate.
