The NPSF launched the first Patient Safety Awareness Week in 2002. This annual and globally recognized event typically occurs during the month of March. This year's Patient Safety Awareness Week will take place from March 12-18. Patient Safety Awareness Week marks a dedicated time to increase patient safety awareness among health care organizations, health care professionals and the public. During this week, we encourage health care organizations around world to create awareness within the community about the importance of patient safety. This initiative was born out of a spirit to take the time to celebrate progress and build enthusiasm around future improvements.
