ESICM is to carry out a C19 SPACE programme funded by the European Commission for the training of multidisciplinary healthcare professionals not regularly working in ICUs, to give extra support to ICUs during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The training programme targets doctors and nurses not regularly working in ICU. As for their trainers: their profile is ICU doctors and nurses.

The aim of the programme is to increase the amount of healthcare staff that could be deployed at a time when there is a need for rapid, temporary and significant scale-up of ICU capacity.

ESICM in its key supporting role has organised an information webinar for the national intensive care societies, national nursing societies and all interested organisations in the EU-27 Member States and UK, to discuss the content of the training and opportunities for hospitals, ICUs, patients and European citizens.
